Sitting Volleyball USAV Grassroots
Tax deductible
My name is Camryn Fischer, and I’m a Dexter High School student. As a volunteer project, I have partnered with my church, Peace Lutheran, and USA Volleyball to bring the adaptive version of volleyball, called Sitting Volleyball to our region. Sitting Volleyball was first introduced as a Paralympic sport in 1980. It has the same rules as its non-disabled counterparts with few exceptions such as a lower net and smaller court which make for a faster game.
The USA Volleyball grassroots program matches funds up to $2500 for the use of developing a program that benefits our veterans. Not only can an athlete with a disability play this sport, but any person can. I love the fact that the families and friends of amputees can play together as well.
My plan is to purchase equipment and initially offer clinics lead by coaches and host matches. From there, I plan to keep introducing new players to the game. I would love to see these players have opportunities to join in USAV events if desired and see families playing together.
Please kindly make a donation and share this page. Thank you!!!
