On July 29th, 16 year old Thomas suffered a traumatic brain injury while doing what he loved - riding his motocross bike. He spent weeks in the PICU at Phoenix Children's Hospital fighting to live. The injury to the left side of his brain along with a large brain bleed were devastating. Mike and Marianna have been told by Thomas's doctors that he will never be the same. While their broken hearts hear that, they are determined to do everything possible to get their brilliant, sweet, witty son back.
As they are coming to terms with what this brain injury means for Thomas and his future, they are also becoming aware of the financial impact this will have as well. So far his care has come to almost 1 million dollars. They are blessed to have insurance, but as they move forward with rehabilitation the limits their insurance has in place will factor in greatly to the care Thomas can receive to make him whole again. The insurance company has approved relocating Thomas to the Craig Hospital in Colorado as an inpatient and he is currently recovering there. While that's the ideal place for him to rehabilitate, it has split their family up and created new expenses, such as travel and living out of state.
The outpouring of support and love for Thomas and his family has been extraordinary! All donations no matter how small will add up and be used exclusively to heal Thomas.
