Cleo's Fresh Start Job Relocation

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Cleola Bostic. This request is coming from a person who has spent a lifetime helping others but now finds it hard to ask for help herself.

NEED
I hope to raise $1,520 for relocation expenses (transportation gas, living quarters and
security deposit).

Breakdown:
- $550-$950
Monthly rental range of per Craigslist      advertisements (This would be first month rental payment and last month's rent as security deposit)

- $33     USPS P.O. Box

- Remaining balance will applied to utility deposits, groceries and gas

The cost of living in Winchester is MUCH less expensive compared to the suburbs of Washington, DC. I expect first month of rent + security deposit (last month’s rent) to be in the range as stated above. If nothing else, raising enough support for one month of rent might give me enough time to pick up a job as a Security Guard to earn extra income. I wouldn't be here asking for help if I thought I could do it on my own. I've been networking tirelessly to make this move possible, and I'll continue working as much as I can by contacting Congresswoman Barbara Comstock’s office and the Winchester Department of Social Services for assistance in locating affordable housing due to my circumstances. I'm praying that some kind people out there will hear about my story and help me through this trying time. Having the stability of an apartment instead of couchsurfing would certainly help me get back on my feet sooner.

RELOCATION FACTS
On Friday, July 31, 2015; I accepted a long-term contracting  federal government position in Winchester, VA that will further my experience in Information Technology. After two months of training, I will be able to telecommute from home. It’s a start for a bigger plan but opportunities in Remote Helpdesk are very rare. My first day of work was on August 10th. Winchester is too far to commute on a 1 hour 30 minutes each way without traffic on daily basis from Woodbridge, VA. I wanted live closer to work to make a good impression on my employer. Currently, a former co-worker's friend who works at the same agency as I, has provided temporary shelter from August 9th for 3 to 6 weeks due to her  apartment lease. If this time period goes longer, she runs the risk of possibly facing eviction or an increase in her monthly rental rate.

I have literally lost everything while recovering from cancer (death of mother and brother, home foreclosure, car repossession, filed bankruptcy, security clearance was backlogged for almost a year, and exhaustion of unemployment benefits.) During my recovery, I exhausted all of my savings for basic living expenses. My goal is be frugal and responsible by renting a room in or around Winchester for two months while I train to pay-off some outstanding medical and personal bills while getting familiar with the location. Afterwards, I intend to find affordable permanent housing, but I will leave it in God’s hand on how he wants to proceed in the best affordable relocation.

ABOUT ME
It has been a rocky road with a few victories of graduating from Northern Virginia Community College with an Associate degree and from George Mason University with a Bachelors degree.  I am now pursuing a MBA at DeVry Keller with the help of the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) program. I never imagined experiencing these circumstances beyond my control. I was hopeful things would look up after undergrad graduation and I would land a dream salaried position as a Business (Functional) Analyst.  Trying to survive on my own for the past three years without any supportive family has been difficult and heartbreaking. After the loss of a loved one, many families often experience dysfunction, with some family members even becoming toxic, making it necessary for you to distance yourself in order to maintain positive mental health and clarity. Due to these unfortunate experiences, I have once again suffered from other stress-related health issues, adding more medical debt to that which had already accumulated. I plan to resolve this by enrolling in a debt management program in September.

I have a solid employment history in which I worked two or three jobs to support myself through college.  Unlike those college days, I have been unable to continue those employment options due to a dismal job market, health issues and the delay in the issuance of my security clearance. These factors led to a deterioration of my personal situation, the worst of which set upon me during 2014-2015.  In June 2015, I was provided temporary shelter by a friend of friend unknown to me. This was a blessing since there are no spaces available in the homeless shelters of Northern Virginia, and the transitional housing is near extinct. Congressman Gerald Connolly and Senator Mark Warner’s offices worked diligently to locate affordable housing and to have my clearance adjudicated so that I may regain employment stability. I’m at a point in my life to follow my mother’s advice and pursue a career in Information Technology, which she identified as the path to job security.

No matter how small or large the dollar amount, all is welcomed and humbly appreciated. Any proceeds that exceed my immediate needs will be applied towards groceries, basic house cleaning supplies, and gas.

Sincerely,
Cleola Bostic
