Help Daniel Get to Nationals

Donation protected
My name is Daniel Kulenkamp, and I am a twenty year old skater from Mahtomedi, Minnesota. For the past two years, I've been training in Scottsdale, Arizona at a beautiful facility with great coaches. I am extremely blessed to have the tools to pursue my passion. This season marks the first time I will be competing at the senior level, which is the highest level in figure skating. I find it extremely exciting to be on the biggest stage in American Figure Skating for the first time in my career.

My next competition is the US Championships, which this season will be taking place in my hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota. I have been looking forward to competing at home for years and it's finally happening. I want to make sure I have the chance to compete in my hometown, which is why I've started this GoFundMe campaign. Luckily I have some wonderful friends who are allowing me to stay at their house for the week of the competition, but the costs of travel and coaching fees are still there. I am hoping to raise $1500 to help offset these costs. Airfare will cost several hundred dollars, and coaching expenses are usually at least $1000. Raising $1500 would help keep this trip fun and stress free.

My Story
I started skating when I was four. My dad had coached hockey for many years and wanted me to start learning how to skate, so he enrolled me in lessons at a local rink. After a few years of lessons, it was clear that I really loved to skate, so I stuck with it. In 2006, I won my first Minnesota State Championship at the Juvenile level. In 2010 and 2011, I competed at two US Junior National Championships, as well as passing the prestigious ISI Freestyle 10 test in 2011. In 2013 I competed at my first US Championships at Novice, followed by two more US Championships in 2014 and 2015 at the Junior Level. In the fall of 2014, I competed at my first Junior Grand Prix in Croatia, placing 9th.

Thank You
I want to take a quick moment to thank some important people. There are so many people who have supported my skating throughout the years, and I'm grateful to every one of them. My parents, brother, and grandparents have always been my biggest supporters. I am so lucky and proud to have family as loving and supportive as them. My coaches Doug and Lara Ladret, Douglas Razzano, Steve Cousins, and Ben Agosto are fantastic. They've helped transform me over the past few years into the skater I am today. Though I have a long way to go, I couldn't have come this far without them. Several family friends have helped me unconditionally over the past few years, especially the Glyer family and the Berrier family. The support of my friends at the Ice Den in Scottsdale, as well as all of my friends across the state of Minnesota have helped me in so many ways, and I am so thankful for them. And finally, all of my supporters, who I may not know personally, but are just as integral to my success as anyone. I couldn't have made it to where I am without all of you.

Thank you so much for taking the time to check out my GoFundMe campaign. I always appreciate any help offered to me. If you can, please share this campaign with friends, family, and followers. It's amazing what a few connections can do. Please also feel free to contact me on social media--I love hearing from people interested in my career.

Thank you so much!
