Support my Dad by supporting me
On September 12, 2015 my father was the victim of a crime. He was severely beaten and left for dead as part of a robbery. Today, gratefully, he is alive . His abilities are limited due to severe brain damage and he is currently living in an assisted living facility. Living in Florida while this happens in New York has left me helpless. In the next coming months I know that I will need to make several trips to check on him, his progression , his care and to follow up on the case. I'm asking for friends, family and friends of friends and family to help in anyway they can to help me to raise funds for these trips and transportation while I'm there. If you know me you know that sharing this was not easy and asking for help is not something that comes naturally. If you feel compelled to help me with this journey in anyway I would be eternally grateful. Thank you for taking time out of your busy days to read this.+ Read More
In 3 days I will embark on trip 2 of my new journey..."daughter of a crime victim". When I read it out loud it sounds more like an episode of Law and Order, not my life. But it is my life. In the middle of all of the truly ugly events that have occurred, I have been blessed with some magnificent miracles. The generosity of so many, the messages of people sharing their love of me and my family, and after 4 months my dad finally passing his swallow test to be able to eat food again. This trip will be as special as it will be difficult. My husband and son will meet my dad for the first time. And although this isn't the way anyone wants to meet someone for the first time the miracle in that is that I never thought they would meet each other at all. I am so grateful.
Back from New York and so grateful forthe opportunity to be able to see my dad. It is going to be the longest road but one I am grateful to have support and help from family and friends.
Right now on a plane waiting to take off on trip 1 of many thanks to all of you. I've already cried and have been swallowing hard trying to prevent myself from getting sick. Thank you for all of your continued thoughts and prayers
One week in and almost half way to my goal. My dad had been moved to a rehab facility 1 1/2 away from the city. I've purchased my first ticket ( because of all of you) and will be headed to visit him 1st week in November. Due to his new location I will have to rent a car to get to him. I've never driven in New York or anywhere north of Atlanta for that matter. Continued prayers and your support are so life changing. Thank you so much.
