Eye Surgery for Remi

Remi is our beautiful 5 year old lab who has an unfortunate fear of fireworks. On Canada Day, the loud noises frightened her and she injured her eye trying to get through a gate. Mommy is a nurse and tried to keep the wound clean and closed. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, the skin surrounding the wound has dried out, leaving the delicate tissues that protect her eye (the conjunctiva) exposed. This has partly to do with Remi deciding to have an adventure on July 4th, where she ran away for a few hours and caused more damage to her eye.

We are looking at $1000-$1200 to fix her eye. The only other option would be to allow it to heal on its own, but that comes with the risk of more scarring and a more difficult surgery down the road. As it stands, her surgery is scheduled for Thursday, July 9th.
