Young Ambassadors Ohio is a faith based youth exchange program between the Ohio Conference United Church of Christ and the Evangelical Church of Westphalia, an area of northwestern Germany along the Rhine River.
Young Ambassadors Ohio welcomed 12 German youth and their 2 leaders last summer. Together we studied Ohio’s role in the Underground Railroad and the racial tensions that still exist today in our country. Next summer we will be traveling to Paderborn Germany to partake in different racial dialogues that affect the German culture.
Our estimated cost is $30.000.00 and you can help us raise 1/3 of that cost or $10,000.00 by April 2016 when we need the funds to pay for our travel.
You can be the catalyst that opens the eyes of our youth to a broader vision of justice in the world. You can provide an environment of hand-on learning, of witnessing first hand a different culture, of experiencing life in a broader sense. By supporting Young Ambassadors Ohio you are providing middle and low income American youth opportunities to travel overseas and meet face to face other youth with the goal of making our world a better place. You will enable them to grapple with issues of equality, justice, and harmony coupled with tenderness. You will assist them to be Young Ambassadors of peace.
This experience is about showing youth a better way, a more peaceful way; it is about expanding world views and making lifelong friendships. You can help make this trip a success!

Last summer when we were at the Oberlin Heritage Center the docent leading the discussion made us decide. “If you were a slave, would you have the courage to leave behind your loved ones, your belongings, all which is familiar to you even if it is painful to embark on an uncertain journey that may either lead to freedom on the Underground Railroad or death along the way?” The decision divided the group…most would stay in unreasonable oppressive, work conditions but there were a few who would venture into the unknown in the hope that new relationships and a better life lie ahead in the future.
Be our hope, encourage us to be brave with a financial commitment; we would be so grateful for your help in making this trip a success.
