Yale Children's Hospital Toy Drive
Donation protected
Hi guys! My name is Julia Howard-Flanders. I am raising money for my Senior Capstone Project which is to donate toys to the Toy Closet at Yale New Haven Hospital. The goal of the Toy Closet Program is to provide pediatric patients with comfort, enjoyment and support while they are receiving care at Yale New Haven Children's Hospital. Since toys are given out 365 days a year, they occasionally run low on donations. This idea for this project came when I read an article in the Shoreline Times in July called "A Different Kind of Medicine" which talked about the impact one group's toy drive had on the happiness of the children at YNHH. Reading about how much a LEGO set, a coloring book, or a stuffed animal could help ease the suffering of a child caused me to want to make a difference. My best friend was at YNHH for pneumonia and she told me that the teddy bear they gave her helped comfort her and provide a sense of security. Being in the hospital can be scary, especially as a child, so please help me raise money to make a difference in these children's lives.
