Help Niki Rise Up at Oxford!

Donation protected
As many of you know, there is generally a way of things in academia.  First you get your undergraduate degree.  Next, you become really interested in a specific topic.  Then you take your GRE's and apply to grad school.  Finally, you have an advisor who (in an ideal situation) helps get your research peer reviewed, and you in front of the right people to give lectures, etc.  And then - if you're lucky - your career can begin.

Many of you know that I learned of these rules after I had started lecturing, whch caused me to change my major in 2012 from Criminal Justice to History.  I am currently in my Junior year of achieving my undergrad in History at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

My love for 18th century British medicine has lead me to a new place... literally.  Taken from the email I received from the British Society of 18th Century Studies.

The kicker?  It's taking place at St. Hugh's College - a constituent university of Oxford.  That's right, that Oxford.

You can imagine my delight and excitment.  It likely goes without saying that this is not the kind of opportunity that I can pass up.  I can't throw away this shot.  I have to rise up and take it.

Luckily, being a student affords me certain discounts on registration, hotel, and food.  YAY!

However, it does not get me a discount on travel.  The flight from Philadelphia to London is over $2,000 for a round trip ticket!

There is no way that I can do that on my own.  It's simply cost prohibitive.  Because of my undergraduate status, I do not qualify for the student awards set aside for graduate student travel.

And, this is where I appeal to you - my friends, my family, those who saw something worth backing even before I thought there was something to put forward.  I am asking for help with the flight: $2,375.00 by November 7, 2015.

I know that this is a lot, and that we're going into the holiday season.    But, anything that you give to help really will help.

Thank you!
