A very special family needs help!
Bill and Alison Ahearn, received devastating news that their 5 year old daughter, Violet, has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Violet has a long road of treatments ahead of her and is currently undergoing intensive treatment. Violet also has special needs--Downs Syndrome-- and is very reliant on Mommy and Daddy to help communicate her needs. She does well with sign language, but not everyone knows it. Violet is never left alone--not even for a minute.
Violet's seven year old big brother Brendan is confused and sad about not having his little sister at home with him. Violet and Brendan are extremely close and he is very protective of her. Brendan does go to the hospital for brief visits and he "facetimes" Mommy, Daddy and Violet. In his own words, “I just want everything back to normal”.
Bill and Alison are two of the most generous people that anyone could meet. If you need something they are there for anyone and everyone in need. They are consistently involved with charitable events for others and now they are in need...
Alison has been out of work for about 6 months and Bill is self-employed. Right now neither of them can work, as they do not know how Violet will respond to the Chemo treatments (which started 2 days after her diagnosis). They need help staying on top of their bills while they tend to Violet in the hospital. This type of Leukemia requires long term treatment. Violet could potentially be hospitalized for a minimum of 6 - 12 weeks, with continuing outpatient treatments IF/when she is allowed to go home. Little Violet has a smile that would light up a universe, her love is unconditional and as with any child with down syndrome, change is very difficult for her.
