Roger Crawford  DENVER, CO

On June 19th, 2015 I was attacked at at a friend's house by a pit  bull. The attack took 40% of my lower lip and now I face several reconstructive surgeries which I hope will leave me with minimal scars. While my insurance is covering most of the costs, I have already spent over $300 on copays in three days and I cannot work. If you can find it in your heart and wallet to help me, I could sure use it. I need to pay my living expenses until I can get back in my truck and to haul the heavy loads around the country.

After four months of recovery and two facial reconstruction surgeries I'm as close to being normal as I'll ever be physically. Although I'm in constant discomfort I can now eat normal foods. My medical bills have piled up to almost $15,000. Last week I was informed that my insurance declined the claims so I'm responsible for the entire amount. My lawyer representing me in my civil suit informed me that since neither party had insurance they would be dropping civil suit. It's pathetic that people can be required to carry auto insurance to protect themselves and others but you can knowingly own a dangerous dog such as a pit bull without any insurance coverage whatsoever.

After 9 days laid up I've gotten restless...Mom & Dad are taking me and my boy Collin fishing up at golden canyon state park...I was able to eat pancakes this morning without the use of a straw and they were the best pancakes I've ever had lol...I'm receiving messages from around the country that are encouraging and uplifting...I'm also receiving donations from people I've never met and that is simply mind blowing...Thanx again

Today is my one week anniversary of being mauled by a pit bull..the things I miss the most are the simple things I took for granted... I miss eating solid foods,I miss the ability to laugh or smile, miss the ability to work and provide for my family, I miss sleeping comfortably without the constant flashbacks of being attacked, and most of all I miss my goatee lol....Today I file a lawsuit to make myself feel better...thanks again for the thoughts, prayers, and words of encouragement...gotta long road ahead of me

Hello Roger - your story touched me and many other people, too. It's a terrible thing, to learn first-hand how dangerous and unpredictable these kinds of dogs are. You have an important story to tell others, and I hope you continue to tell it LONG after you have physically recovered from your mauling injuries, so that others can learn from you and avoid these dogs like the canine plague that they really are. All the best, stay strong, feel better soon. x

Hi Roger - glad to help out. Stay strong and help us change things, so that these blood-sport dogs are either difficult or impossible to keep as 'pets'. Feel better soon, all best wishes to you and yours. x
