Race For Nilo Barablose- Run For Jocelyn Miller 2016.

The first Race For Nilo in Toledo City was an incredible success and surprisingly turned into all that I had dreamed of for the race.  This was due to the many people who contributed to the event and made it their own.  Thank you to everyone who made The Race For Nilo #1 an amazingly special bicycle race for Nilo, his family, Toledo City and the cycling community of Cebu.   It truly was an a dream come true.

The Race For Nilo #2 will take place December 4, 2016.
This page on gofundme will serve to unite a group of caring individuals in getting behind the cause and thus making the event a reality.  The event will have a very special meaning as it will consist of a bike race like the 1st edition Race For Nilo.  Plus the largest prize list for any Women's Cycling event ever in Cebu at Toledo City- The Race For Jocelyn.   This Race For Jocelyn, with the largest prize value ever for the female racing, will create history and a legacy moving forward for Junior Girls and Women's racing in the Philippines.

Jocelyn Miller, the beautiful & precious 7 year old daughter of Joseph Miller, tragically lost her life to Dengue Fever earlier this year.  Jocelyn at 7 years old had the dream of being  a great racer like her father Joseph.  Her life was tragically cut short due to a mosquito bite and the resulting Dengue Fever.  The Race For Jocelyn will serve to show honor and respect to Jocelyn , as well as educate the kids of Toledo City and beyond on Dengue Fever and raise awareness toward prevention of this horrible disease.

So we are going to Race For Jocelyn!

There will be the most prestigous Junior Girls and Women's cycling race in the history of Philippine Cycling.  And also a first ever Free Kids Running Race in Toledo City on the bike course.  The kids run will be the final event of the day to coincide with the bike race activities of the Race For Nilo #2. Jocelyn wanted to be like her father Joseph and race.  Her father is one of the best and most dedicated racers of Cebu and we will Bike Race & Run For Jocelyn to honor her life and her dream of being a competitor.

The race for Nilo in it's first edition brought the cycling community together to pay respect to Nilo and compete for the largest prize purse in Cebu cycling history.  The very best racers from the region traveled to Toledo City for the Cebu Criterium Championships in Road Bike & Mountain Bike.  The show that was put on by the racers and the very large crowds who gathered for the entire days activities was amazing and really demonstrated
the care all had toward Nilo Barbalose who suffered a tragic accident from the carelessness of a drunk driver.

Now for 2016 the Race For Nilo and the Run For Jocelyn will make history for Toledo City.

The people of Toldeo City embraced the event in a very special way during December 2015.  It truly touched a large amount of people in a very positive manner.
Adding the biggest prize list ever for Female bike racers in the Philippines and the Run For Jocelyn- thus bringing the event to the kids aged 10 & under of the region to end the day of top notch bike racing will make for the 2016 event a true classic.

Ana Maximo of Cebu City in photo below, was the Women's Road Bike Champion of the Race For Nilo and showed great poise when being interviewed in front of the sports fans of Toledo City.  This sporting event brings fun and excitement to Toledo City and shows all who watch the benefits of exercise and outdoors sports.

The fastest and most dedicated racers of Cebu made it to Toldeo City to Race For Nilo!
Photo below shows the Men's 19-34 Road event and the brutal speeds of the top athletes of Cebu.  This race was extremely fast and the competition level super high for the top 5 placings.

Philip Sainz and Keith DeFiebre lead the break-away in the Masters Road Bike division seen below...
The Masters racing in Cebu always has the very best riders of their generation.  Nilo was at his peak before he was taken out by a drunk driver while training.  Now we Race For Nilo to pay respect to the champion for all time- Nilo Barbalose.

Pure determination displayed from the leader of the Men's Open MTB Championship race in this photo below.

The Women's MTB Champion Maria Corazon Moleno showing her joy in taking top honors for her division.  Such a awesome moment watching the Women of Cebu race and earn equal awards as the men!

Good times for all when Keith DeFiebre takes 1st place.

And finally a photo of Nilo below taken during the end of the day at his event!
Nilo is working hard on a full comeback after such a tragic and live changing accident.  The Race For Nilo serves to give him hope and strength for the future. The 2016 version Race For Nilo & the Race For Jocelyn will be the next chapter in the story of recovery and respect for those fallen.
Thank you again to all who get behind this event and make it their own.  You are all world class people!
