"Off the Street to Healing"

I had the privilege to serve the homeless community in San Diego and understand the challenges they are facing. One of the lessons I learned is that these people have a deep sense of loneliness and a separation from the world.
It was striking that when I offered them food, they didn’t want it…what they hungered for was simply a human connection .
I didn’t have to give anything but only to be a space for love and to hear their stories. In a word, they wanted my friendship and a sense of belonging …
My vision is to lift up the homeless women and men from the streets by creating a caring community within which they can engage meaningfully and contribute, creating a sense of ownership, self-worth, and a foundation for engaging constructively with society more broadly.
Central to this concept is having these communities create and work in their own community garden. Thus would be a practical, tangible activity which would nourish them physically and emotionally, and in the process help them develop basic life skills essential for re-entering and functioning well in the broader community.
One critical factor I found through my experience it is that nearly impossible for those living on the streets to get jobs without an address or a place to clean up for an interview . This project will also addresses the root cause of the chronic homelessness.
In summary, the goals of this campaign would be to:
1. Create a supportive, therapeutic environment for healing and personal growth
2. Teach sustainable and ecological practices in gardening to provide those in need with access to locally grown, nutrient rich food that promote personal use of healthy locally grown produce
3. Create a transitional environment for the homeless people to get back to the job market
"Off the Street to Healing" Campaign will also invite the homeless community to attend workshops and lectures in spiritual healing, personnel-development, counseling and gardening.
To launch "Off the Street to Healing" campaign I have commited to fundraising 18 000$ . This amount will pay for the annual rent of the community house and buy all the necessities ( bedding , houseware etc... ) to host those women ( about 10 to 15 women).
The first community house will be focused to provide a sanctuary healing refuge for our beloved sisters on the streets . This first commmunity house will be hosting women and in the future other community houses will be hosting men.
Please join me to make a difference in these women lives and offer them a space of healing and empower them to be the light and heling for our children .
