Girl Guides - Africa 2018

In 2003 I was lucky enough to be part of a group of 15 year olds who had the amazing opportunity to go to a small community in Malealea in Lesotho in Southern Africa. While we were there we provided wind and solar power to the local secondary school. As a young girl, this trip really shaped my future and my view on the world. From the minute I came home, I wanted to go back to be able to do more in the community. At 29 years of age, 14 years later, I got that exact opportunity. Whilst raising my own funds for my trip, I started telling my Girl Guides and Rangers about what I was going to be doing, and not only did they want to help raise money for the charity, they wanted the opporunity to go themselves. 

So, here we are! We have 21 people excited for this amazing trip to South Africa in 2018. We have to raise £28,000, on top of the £1000 each person is paying individually for the trip.

The funds that we raise will go a long way in helping us to get to Africa to work with the local development trust. We are going in August 2018 and would like to raise all of our funds by May 2018. We are carrying out lots of different fundraising activities in our group and are hoping to raise awareness of the amazing work the charity is already doing out there with other groups.
