John Matthew was born with Spina Bifida and one kidney. Due to his father's mental health issues I am now raising this beautiful boy on my own. I was lucky enough to find a job working from home as working outside the home was impossible due to my child's health issues and also, due to the fact he is hospital home bound from school.
2015 has not been a good year for us but we have managed on our own up until now. If I am unable to work I do not get paid. January 15th I had my first heart attack. Feb. I went into the hospital for congestive heart failure. March 15th John got his first UTI and only having one kidney is very dangerous for him. His kidney is only 72% functional and we have to protect his kidney at all costs. April 10th he was hospitalized for the infection and was released April 18th and went back into the hospital on April 20th for the first of two surgeries to repair the damage that was done to his legs and enable him to walk again. The UTI has been on going since March and he has been hospitalized a total of six times for this problem. Sept. 21st he underwent the second surgery to repair his legs and since then I have had a second heart attack and he has had numerous visits to the ER. On Nov. 16th John had a stint placed in his uretuer from the kidney into the bladder and will have it removed on Dec. 31st.
Due to all the hospitalizations I have only had one full paycheck since January 15th. We have lost our home and I am trying to save money to move but all I have been able to do is keep the electric on and keep food on the table. Our home is set to be sold at public acuction and I need to be able to find a home to rent but with no money this is not even an option. I have tried getting help from the State of Florida but their option is to take my child away from me and put him in a home. THIS IS NOT AN OPTION EITHER ONE OF US WILL BE ABLE TO LIVE WITH.
Our home is falling to the ground due to all the rain earlier this year and now we do not even have running water due to the well pump going out. When we bought this place we used a home inspector as every cent I had saved went into buying this place. The inspector filed a false report and come to find out he is not insured so I have no legal means to recoop any of the money I have lost buying this place and of course it was bought as is.
My son is the only thing I have in this world and I have been his whole world since the day he was born. I have never done anything like this before but I am quickly running out of options and do not know what else to do.
We just need help to start over and build a life for ourselves and continue to hope and pray for a better future. I know we are being prepared for something much better or 2015 would not have been so hard on us.
