Hi there, it's me. I'm Diarmad. Most people just call me D though, because my name sounds nothing like it's spelled. Just ask any one that knows me.
I have a wife and two fantastic, talented children. I'm a software engineer, and I've been doing mobile development for quite a few years now, but due to a huge list of really irrelevant reasons, I haven't had a "real" job in a while. As a result, I'm officially out of money. On the bright side, I have an offer on the table, so I will have an income again soon - but the start date could be more than a month or two away while they square away stuff on their end.
My wife and I found out at the end of February that our landlords are forced into a position where they must either raise the rent on us, or sell this place - which is really and honestly the best choice for them. They are wonderful, amazing people, and they have certainly been the best landlords we have ever had. They have been nothing but good to us. The amount they need to raise the rent by means that it is in our best interest to move, especially given that this house no longer covers our needs like it did when we moved in. Our poor girls have to share a room, and that makes them want to kill one another on occassion. (I dont blame them. Sharing a room sucks, unless it's with your awesome wife <3 ... Or husband, or whatever.)
At the same time, one of our friends moved out of her amazing place, and it's now for rent. It is perfect for our family - 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms - enough for our children to have plenty of private space to them selves. And let's face it, 2 bathrooms is just awesome when you have kids. Teen aged girl children at that...
So, we are asking for money so we can do one of two things:
A) (And ideally) Move into the new place while waiting on the first checks from the new job.
-or-
B) (Definitely less ideal) Keep paying rent while I get a job.
$6000 would be enough for us to move into the new place, and even pay a month of rent, or pay up quite a lot of rent at our current place - enough to last until I get a new job.
The sooner we get this money, the better, so we can secure this house before someone else does. Or, at least pay rent to our current landlords! (I really can't say enough good about them. They are amazing people.)
This would allow my family and I to enjoy living in a house, instead of a box, and we would all be amazingly, shockingly grateful to anyone who helped keep us living in a house, instead of a box.
