Wynn's care packages

Wynn aches desperately to heal the world's pains, especially the ones he sees every day in our travels.

Last year, he made care packages to hand deliver to people living on the cold streets in winter because he wants to make their lives less difficult, because he worries about them every single night as he falls asleep, and expresses his gratitude for his own warm bed. We drove around the city and Wynn and his friend Avin handed out their first few care packages on New Year's Eve day. The looks of joy and words of appreciation from the people receiving the packages from these two smiling boys were priceless. Wynn kept saying how good it felt to give.  

This year, with the cold here now, Wynn wants to start earlier, and make packages regularly over the winter so we can give them out whenever we see someone in need.

I wish I could credit my parenting but I can't - it's all his own lovely guts and I want to encourage it. I am welcoming dollars to buy supplies, donations for the cause, and kind words of encouragement that I can pass on to him to reinforce this loveliness in him, in hopes that he stays hopeful about the benefits of activism.

Not sure how I got so lucky to have this kid who pushes me to be a better human, but I am embracing the opportunity it's giving me to grow, and to learn from Wynn.

Wynn's care packages include the following, packed in a large plastic freezer bag:
-toque
-gloves
-thick socks
-toothbrush and toothpaste
-tokens for public transit 
-a few types of packaged snacks
-bottled water
-wet wipes/tissues
-lip balm
-lotion
-sanitary pads/period supplies
