As many of you know, because of your generous participation in my efforts in Haiti, this summer will mark the 8th time I will have the privilege of working in Haiti.

Partners in Development www.pidonline.org is a phenomenal organization and who I spent all but my last two trips with.

Volunteers who travel help to provide medical care, construction assistance, and children's programs such as Jessica wishes to do. However, we cannot do it alone. The cost for airfare, lodging, food, clean water, health, and safety is significant.

Still, I cannot imagine not doing it and could not be more thrilled that Jessica came to me with her art ideas for a children's program when I next travel. I couldn't be happier.

As a Registered Nurse, I have been able to collect donated supplies and bring them to clinics and hospital centers where I have worked. I will now also have the privilege of teaching during my stay. But medical needs are only part of the picture. As I mentioned, my daughter Jessica, who will be between her junior and senior year in high school, has generously offered to come with me this summer to provide art programs for the children of the community surrounding the clinic.

I have a very special connection to Haiti and to the people in Haiti. I have established friendships over the years that I absolutely cherish and someday I hope to be able to stay longer or return more frequently. In the meantime, I have been and continue to work hard on Creole Language Acquisition, cultural awareness, and best practices to assist already phenomenal medical personnel.

Your help in the past and any assistance you can provide to help us to go this summer would be grateful in more ways than you can imagine.

You will have the option to put either Jessica McDonald or Susan McDonald. In this way your donation will go directly to our associated trip fees. We are also listed as a "group" called McDonald. If we do fundraise over the amount required for each of our room, board, and airfare, remaining donations will be used by PID to purchase medications or other equipment deemed necessary.
