We Will Go Thanksgiving Dinner 2015

Donation protected
I met several of the We Will Go Ministries' missionaries when our school decided to hold a canned food drive as admission for our Homecoming Community Pep Rally, back in October of this year.  I had heard about the work this ministry does, and I had seen some of the artwork at craft shows, but I was not familiar with all the ministry encompasses.

Our canned food drive was successful and although we were able to provide a couple of carloads of food, I found out the cupboard had been bare for some time and our donations would only last a month, maybe less. I learned that Vienna sausages were considered "golden" and peanut butter and jelly were frequent prayer requests from some of those who came looking for food and were asked to pray for what they would like for God to supply for them in the canned food ministry pantry.

Are you crying yet... because my eyes watered the more I listened and learned. Then, Amy Lancaster came to speak at our chapel service at school and I cried more.  Rather than go into many details, I am going to provide you with We Will Go Ministries web page link:

I found out there will be over two hundred people at We Will Go Ministries on Thanksgiving Day.  They will all be hungry.  One of the missionaries called me because I had asked how I could help.  She asked if I could just bring some rolls, or a side dish?  I asked what they already had?  It wasn't much.  She was just beginning to make phone calls.  I asked her to give me until Tuesday, November 10th, and I would give her a phone call and let her know what I could do.

I went to our sweet lunch lady at the school and asked her how much it would cost to feed two hundred people for Thanksgiving Day?  She asked for details, cut her price to the bare minimum, and came back to me with a menu of:  Turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, green bean casserole, and rolls for $3.00 per person. Two hundred people fed would be a total of $600.00 dollars.  That does not count drinks, paper or plastic utensils, plates, cups, or desserts.

I have never done this before.  It is not for me. Every penny donated here will go directly to pay for food for We Will Go Ministries.  I am not affiliated with them and they do not know I am setting up this Gofundme account. I am doing this because I want to help.  I am doing this because I believe God told me to do it.

Three dollars is less than one cup of coffee, a happy meal, or any fast food combo unless you are dollar menu shoppers.  It is one snack at the convenience store.  But for these families, three dollars is the difference between a hot meal and hunger on a holiday where many of us eat way too much and have left overs for days.

This year, I would like to remember how blessed I am and take the time to help those who are not as blessed.  I would like to meet some of these people and hug them.  I would like to spend some time in their world.  I would love to see their faces when they have more than enough to eat!

Would you please take time to pray about this and search your heart.  Will you help me feed two hundred people this Thanksgiving?

Anything over $600.00 gives us options for drinks and desserts.  Please donate here.  I am praying for God to answer by November 10th.  I need to have the funds to place the food order, so that it can be prepared in time for us to deliver and serve.

If you want to help We Will Go Ministries in another department, please click the link to their website.  Please know the donations submitted there will not go toward Thanksgiving dinner.  Only this site will provide funds for this particular meal.

Please help me exceed our goal and provide enough for two hundred with all the trimmings!

Our school motto this year is:  Take Notice!

Remember Matthew 25: 40-Jesus tells us that when we clothe, feed, and give drink to the least of these, our neighbors; we have done it unto Him.

Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

P.S.  I know there are many worthy organizations out there and I have supported them in the past and will support them in the future.  I am not playing favorites.  I am trying to do what I believe God wants me to do at this moment in time.  Love to you all!
