Kicking cancers ASS

So where to begin..... My name is Joe Hancock and im 30 years old. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. I live in Des Plaines, Ill now with my wife Jordan (28) and 22month old son Cameron. I am a facility manager at Do&Co catering and my wife is a part time pharmacy technician. She currently has not been working due to the fact that we are now expecting another child on the way (YAY!) and she hasn’t been feeling good. So after we found out we started to set up all the necessary appointments that everyone that has had a child has went through. We were roughly 10 weeks in and went to our first ultrasound together Tuesday morning. We were very excited as most parents are for your first ultrasound to see that little miracle of life for the first time. As we started the first ultrasound the nurse and Doctor covered their mouths looking like they had seen a ghost. They let down their hands and kind of smiled and asked was this a natural presence? We replied with a yes. The nurse then said well that’s crazy because you have 2 babies growing in there!! We were absolutely overwhelmed with joy and happiness that this has happened to us. All we could do was repeat the word twins over and over again to each other. After the intial
shock the doctor asked so which side of the family has twins and we replied neither. He said we’ll that makes this even crazier because the odds of that are very low so congratulations you two! We were as happy as we were on our wedding day, this was just a miracle. After the ultrasound you meet with the doctor and go over the next steps. While
we met with the doctor we had also asked right before she was done about a small bump on my wife left breast that she felt a couple weeks before. The doctor said oh it’s probably nothing just some hyper tense muscle or fatty tissue but we should still get it checked out. She ordered a ultrasound for my wife’s breast and we were able to set up an appointment for that day about an hour later. So we went to the breast center in
Lutheran General hospital and my wife was taken in for her breast ultrasound while I waited in the waiting room. About 4 hours go by and I’m really starting to worry at this point because what clean ultrasound could
take this long!?! I asked the nurse what’s going on and she checks up on her. She comes back and tells me they needed a couple extra pictures of some areas and it shouldn’t be much longer. Another hour or so goes by and the nurse comes to the waiting room and calls me back to see my wife. She is crying and saying “if it was nothing we wouldn’t be here this long”. In my head I agree with her but I couldn’t say that so I just said what I could to
calm her down. The Doctor comes in and tells us they are very concerned with 3 areas in both breast and will need a biopsy immediately. We then spoke to the surgeon that would be helping through this entire thing and she said the same thing. To skip forward alittle bit we now have had the biopsy and got the results. My wife has stage 2 breast cancer and will need surgery to remove her breast and chemotherapy to make sure that everyone will be safe and cancer free. This devastated us beyond belief. We had quickly went from the best feeling of our life to the worst all in one day. The surgeon did advise us that this is curable and they can save the babies but it will still be a long road ahead for our Family. This was the best case scenario we could have heard in the situation we were in.  So now we have to plan ahead which includes me taking a leave off of work, no pay, for up to 12 weeks to take care of my family. Which is what leads me to writing down my life story to the public. I’m not going to lie I feel kind of embarrassed to even have to be on a site like this but I just don’t know how I am going to be able to pay the bills and mortgage to not lose the house!  No income coming in for at least 12 weeks! How is it possible to do this? I just don’t know, so a friend told me this would be a good idea and to not feel bad to ask for help..... so I’m here asking for help. I know this probably won’t get anything and that’s fine but at least it felt good to write this out and maybe get a few extra prayers our way. Peace and love everyone! ❤️
