Hi everyone,
I have decided after a lot of thought that I am going to Volunteer as part of the team of Projects Abroad to go to Ghana to provide communities with important infrastructure. I will work alongside local builders to construct classrooms, toilet blocks, libraries or homes. Everything I do will be part of Projects Abroad's efforts to improve quality of life for people living in disadvantaged areas.
While volunteering I will work in one of the many little villages found in Akuapem Hills and stay with a local host family. It is an opportunity to challenge myself physically, but also make a difference for a family in Ghana.
During this experience I will have to push myself to the limit and get my hands dirty in order to help those in need, and make a difference. This is an amazing opportunity that I am doing on my own, which is so scary however, I am so keen to give back to those who I know need it. Sometimes we take things for granted and I would believe that life has dealt me pretty good cards, so I think its time I give a little back.
I have chosen Ghana as my destination as when I was choosing, I was informed that there are a lot of popular destinations that Volunteers go for as they are able to benefit from the beauty of the towns etc. However, I personally wanted to go somewhere that I felt may sometimes be forgotten about, through no ones fault. There are so many families and children in Ghana who truly do need the help of someone who is willing to work hard for them, and I would love to be one of those people.
I am going to start organising different fundraisers throughout the next coming weeks in order to raise money to go towards Project Abroad's fees to gain resources that are needed in order for the trip to be a success. I would absolutely love if everyone could support this page, and give whatever they can because every penny counts. I would be so grateful, and I hope this encourages other people to start giving back too, and going out of their way to help people in circumstances that they just can't help. If anyone has any questions about the legitimacy of this fundraising or the charity I am working with, feel free to ask! I would really appreciate the support. Thank you :)
