Property Tax Fund

Here's the situation: My mother has been put in a nursing home (she can still come home if she gets better enough to do so in the future), and the nursing home will be getting her income.
And now I have to come up with $3000 ASAP to pay the back taxes on the house. I will get the house, I just have to pay the taxes.
The thing is, when my mother turned 65, she didn't hardly have enough income to live on due to her medicine and insulin costs, and she signed a waiver at the tax office that allowed her to not have to pay the taxes. Some of it's been paid down since then, but there's still a $3000 balance.
Once it's paid off, I can easily manage the yearly tax bill, because the property is homesteaded, so the yearly bill isn't much. But right now I need to pay what is owed.
Normally, the state would get the house due to the Medicaid Estate Recovery Program. But in this case, I will be able to get the house because I fit the criteria for one of the exemptions.
The reason I need to pay off the taxes as quickly as possible: I will not be able to get a clear title to the house yet. A lawyer will have to draw up some papers, but they can't do that until a Warranty Deed can be had, and a Warranty Deed can't be had until the taxes are paid off. This needs to be done while my mother is still living, otherwise the matter will become more complicated.
This is hard for me, because I am a private and independent person, and it's embarrassing for me to beg, but I have no choice.
One more thing to add- just in case I raise more than $3000, the extra will go toward some repairs that the house needs.
