Superbins for Woodingdean
Following the astonishing success of Wooding-Clean on 14th October 2018, it became clear just how much the people of Woodingdean cared about their local environment and how much of an appetite there was to get involved in keeping the village tidy; for appearances, but also for hygiene and safety - especially for our children, pets, and local wildlife.
Preston Park recently got the city's first SuperBin, which uses a coded lock to allow access to cleaning supplies for when people feel like some impromptu litter-picking. At the playground and there are broken glass bottles by the swings? Fetch the dustpan and brush from the SuperBin. Litter on the playing field? Grab a grabber. The SuperBin contains a variety of tools and supplies for local volunteers to help keep the village beautiful and safe.
The galvanised steel bin is manufactured in the UK from UK-sourced materials. The council doesn't have the funds to buy these readily and we all know Woodingdean wouldn't be a priority, so the residents of Woodingdean are taking the initiative. If we buy these toolkit bins, the council will install them and keep them stocked. Residents can obtain the code by participating in the Tidy Up Team's training session, where they'll get their own equipment too.
We would like to see TWO SuperBins in Woodingdean; one in Happy Valley Park and one in Central Park (Lockwood). This will really put Woodingdean on the map and make us a shining example of what close communities can achieve together.
