$8,492 of $8,000 goal

Our Women's March on Maui, unexpectedly but happily, is EXPLODING! We urgently need your financial support prior to the Presidential Inauguration so all Maui participants can have a meaningful, safe, and comfortable event.

Originally planning for "about thirty" we now anticipate 1,000 participants! The surge in interest changes the degree of planning and execution necessary.

We, five women, are unable to field the rapidly rising costs on our own.

Your donations are urgently needed to cover:
Police and security
Sound equipment rental
Liability insurance
Advertising and Publicity
Seed money for T-shirt and Wristlet fundraisers
Travel subsidies for our Molokai and Lanai sisters
First aid supplies

Since many of us cannot join the Women's March on Washington, a handful of women, led by Robin Pilus and Sara Patton, envisioned creating a small Maui event. We thought a concurrent march would help concerned citizens of Maui to go forward with new hope and determination.

Aloha! I am Dr. Virginia "Virgie" Cantorna, a woman of color, born to immigrant Filipino parents, with a daughter, and with LGBT friends and family. I am a psychologist who noted a significant rise in the number of patients with depression and anxiety about their own and the nation's future after the election. I, like many others, were feeling degrees of shock, dismay, hurt, fright, anger, and anxiety.

I believe that our activity is assuming a sacred life of its own because so many people want and need to unite for healing, solidarity, and empowerment. We hope people will take the flame and continue afterwards to be proactive in protecting our constitutional rights. Women's Rights Are Human Rights

I humbly invite you to participate in our Go Fund Me Project.

Because of our utter dismay at the classification of certain televised inappropriate sexual threats as "just locker room banter" the Safe Keiki Project has been designated the beneficiary to receive net proceeds after expenses. This will assist the foundation with their important work in fighting bullying, sexual harassment, sexual abuse and assault.

Aloha dear supporters!

The Women's March on Maui sincerely and deeply appreciate you for generosity. In only one week, you helped us reach our goal
of $8,00 and plus the amount needed to pay for the Go Fund Me fee. We are so grateful.

Yesterday we joined with millions of women and supporters all over the world in solidarity to protect women's rights, civil rights,
immigrant rights, LGBT rights, to end violence, and promote environmental justice.

Your investment is making a difference. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
