Replacement Camera for Witchy Words

Donation protected

Hi everyone! My name is Marietta and I'm the content creator behind Witchy Words , a blog about modern witchcraft and paganism.  If you're from the Kansas City community, you may know me as the volunteer event photographer for most of the public rituals in the area.

My blog has been known to attract people from far and wide to our KC pagan events.  Being able to volunteer my time and take these photos is my way of giving back to a community that I truly love and want to support in any way I can.  While I have an extensive and knowledgable background in photography, I'm not a photographer by trade.  I use my camera strictly for the pagan community.

I currently work with a Sony RX100 II.  The RX100 is the best low-lighting and quick movement capture camera on the market for being a mix between a DSLR and a Point-and-Shoot.

In layman's terms, the RX100 allows me to discretely take excellent photos at events without hauling around a giant camera and making lense changes.  It ensures pictures come out clear even in very dark settings or when ritual attendees are moving quickly.

For example, the photo above was taken at night in a room so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.  Need proof?

I've been a loyal Sony camera owner for many years.

I have owned my current RX100 II since 2013.  It's been an amazing camera, but I'm about due for an upgrade.  I've been having stalling issues with my camera, which can interrupt my ability to take all of the essential photos I need, missing some of the most important key elements of ritual.

On top of that, my camera has been struggling to focus for probably about six months, leading to sometimes blurry photos.  Finally, the LCD screen is partially damaged just from general wear and tear.   These are things that normally happen when you use a camera as often as I do in public and outdoor spaces.

My camera probably has another six months to a year of life in it, but I don't want to risk going without a camera.  As you may know, my husband and I are in the middle of buying a house which puts us in a financial corner, so to speak.

If I do lose my camera within the next six months to a year, it may put a pause in my ability to volunteer with the community.  This happened in 2012 when my camera's lense shattered.  I was out of commission for 11 months.

I just want to tackle this before it's too late!

In order to continue taking photos, I would like to upgrade to the RX100 IV.  It's the latest Sony RX100 on the market and improves upon all of the things that the RX100 is known for - low lighting event photos, quick capture, high resolution, the works!

The RX100 IV is currently going for $950, which is exactly how much I spent to purchase my RX100 II back when it first came out.  This is the going rate of this wonderful little camera.

This GoFundMe campaign is not a plea for help.  Consider it more like a housewarming gift!  If you like what I do and want to help me do it better and more often, consider donating to my campaign.  No donation is too small and it helps me continue to bring you the photos I'm known for and the community loves.

I can't wait to see what the RX100 IV can do for the community - and stop having the lags that are causing me to miss key photos during events.  Thank you so much for everything!
