Hello! My name is Joe Cavuoto and I am here on behalf of our neighbors, the Mattas family and their farm. They do not know that we are putting this page together and we are hoping to surprise them.

Mattas' Farm needs your help. Last week on March 2nd, there was a terrible wind storm that destroyed our neighbors new barn. The barn was still being built and had just had the sides and roof put on before winter arrived. All of the farmers heavy machinery was stored under it.

When I got home from work on March 2nd, it was just a normal evening. I had just come in from looking at a tree that the wind had brought down and my wife was washing some dishes. That's when we saw it. The new barn across the street was totally destroyed.

Immediately I grabbed my work gloves and went over to the farm. I found the farmer, Mark, just sitting in his workshop by the generator. I asked if everyone was alright and what I could do to help. He looked at me with a sadness in his eyes, chuckled a little and said nothing unless you have $40,000 burning a hole in your pocket.

Mark explained to me that they had used their savings to hire the local amish to build the barn. Since it was still a work in progress, it was not insured and he didn't know what he was going to do. As he was telling me this, he just turned away with tears in his eyes. I told him I didn't have $40,000 and that I didn't really know how to build anything, but if he told me what to do, I would do my best. He chuckled a bit again and thanked me, but said there was nothing to be done at the moment. I left, feeling useless and heartbroken for my neighbor.

That is why I am asking for your help! Mark and his family are some of the nicest and hardest working people I know. There are days when I see them out working the farm from before sun up, to the wee hours the next morning. Yet they would find the time to help us if we asked. There have even been several times that Mark has plowed our driveway during bad winter storms without us asking, just to make sure we could get out in case of an emergency.

Farmers are the backbone of America and it is hard enough having a small farm without having a natural disaster destroy something that was worked so hard for. So please help us help our neighbors! Every little bit helps! Thank you!
