My name is Sherene and I lost my dad to Suicide in 2001. I was only 12 at the time and had no support or professional help to cope and recover. Self-help is what got me through.
Seventeen years on, I am now 29 and on a mission to stay sane and help others do the same. I am campaigning to break the stigma of mental health and suicide to help more people get the help they need. I am also campaigning to help those bereaved by suicide, so that more people can access adequate support. Once loosing someone to suicide, you are at higher risk of death by suicide.
I have been researching suicide prevention and have come up with a project that I feel could not only help those bereaved by suicide, but also those who have felt suicidal. Essentially, it will help anybody affected by suicide either personally or professionally, by creating a platform where they can express the impact and harm of suicide.
Before this, I will be campaigning to raise awareness on suicide and get more people talking. The Campaign is called #ONITSHEAD and the aim is to place the stigma on its head to prevent more lives from being turned upside down. www.onitshead.co.uk Please join the campaign!
In order to make all of this happen, I need to raise funds to cover the costs of venue hire, materials and campaigning etc.
I am also hoping to create an awareness documentary/short film which explores the lives of people who have been suicidal and those that have lost someone to suicide.

I will be working in conjunction with Well Springs CIC a Bedfordshire based Restorative Justice organisation.
