The Whitmore's Adoption

Donation protected
Our official journey began over two years ago, but really has been in our hearts for over 10 years. A little tug at us told us that our family just wasn't complete yet. So after much discussion, the decision was finally made to look into adoption.

We were surrounded by it. Wonderful friends at church had adopted, others were talking about it, and in the back of our minds we knew it was something we would eventually want to do. However, God had other plans.

We decided on domestic adoption, after a lot of back and forth. So many children in the US need loving homes, even if it's temporary. So we proceeded to look into our local DSS, only to be told our journey should focus with a more private company. So I began the hunt, but after two months of searching, God had us put our journey on the shelf.

That two years turned into busy lives, a family moving in, and a Summer filled of baseball memories, as we sponsored a college ball player. April rolled around and one of the agency's I had originally looked into was holding an introduction class. Our calendar was open and I took that as God's go ahead to begin our journey again. So we attended an introduction with the NC Children's Home Society. We received our application and within a few days turned it in. It was official, we were starting the process.

So now fast forward to almost 5 months later...we passed our MAPP class (a requirement to foster/adopt in NC). It was an exciting day, a big hurdle that took us six weeks to complete, but we were officially done with our training. Now it's just paperwork and waiting.

Through this journey and much discussion, Brad and I have found that there will be many expenses, in the coming months, as we begin to welcome children into our home, with the hopes of adopting someone. I would love to adopt a girl, but know that God is in control and will bless our family with whomever we are meant to have.

So as we start this journey, many have asked how they can help. If you feel led to donate to our adoption journey, we would greatly appreciate anything we receive.

Thank you so much for reading about our journey and we hope to share with you our newest family member soon!!!
