Save Redwood Academy's Farm

$15,856 of $100,000 goal

Raised by 86 people in 17 months
Unfortunately the recent fires that have swept through Napa and Sonoma counties have destroyed our school (Redwood Adventist Academy) and our school farm (What's Up Farm).

What’s Up Farm provides students grade K-12 with a real world agriculture curriculum with hands-on experience growing vegetables. The farm also serves the local community by providing affordable fresh fruits and vegetables grown naturally, without pesticides.

What's Up Farm wants to begin planting for the upcoming rains and moving forward towards rebuilding the farm, school and community. We are hopeful that we can recover quickly and continue providing the community with fresh honest produce while we work on rebuilding our agriculture program and our school.

The school campus will take some time to rebuild, however, the quickest signs of life and a successful recovery will begin with the rebuilding of the farm. As soon as we are cleared to reenter the property, the priority will be to establish the farm project. This will be healing for both the school students, staff and local community to see life is returning.

Everything from farm equipment, greenhouses, auxiliary buildings, walk in coolers, farm tools, fencing, fruit trees and irrigation systems will have to be replaced.

We would be grateful for any help you can provide as we begin this process. Thank You!

(This campaign is intended to raise money to aid in rebuilding the agricultural program and farm, and is organized separately from the campaign benefitting the entire school's efforts. This campaign is organized by Joby Oft, Director of Agriculture and Angeline Weems, Principal of Redwood Adventist Academy.)

Thanks to the Sonoma County Agriculture Commissioner we have been able to enter our farm to asses and rebuild. We are happy to announce that there are signs of life and beautiful produce in parts of the field.

We have been able to harvest and deliver over five hundred lbs of Student grown produce to Chefs like Rodrigo Mendoza of Willi's Seafood who are preparing meals for those in need.

Sure does feel nice be farming again...

First, let me thank you for all the generous donations! We have already passed the $10k mark and have been amazed at all the support and beautiful messages we have received from so many of you.

I wanted to update all of you on what has been going on. We finally got permission to return to the property yesterday to get a good look at the extent of the damage. I was able to take some more photos of the farm area which I want to share with all of you. Today I'm going to share some more pictures of destruction, but will have a happier update to share with you (hopefully) tomorrow.
