This Christmas we are headed to Cambodia to volunteer with One-2-One Charitable Trust and assist them with their mission in meeting the health care needs of the poor and vulnerable. This includes orphans, street children, HIV affected, and prisoners, meeting their dental, medical, educational, vocational and physical needs, regardless of ethnicity, gender and religion.
As part of the Dental team we will be joining the ‘Mobile Community Project’ that travels hours daily to needy provincial areas in Cambodia in order to provide basic dental care. In most parts of Cambodia dental care is either not available or is unaffordable. We will be working alongside dentists, doctors and other healthcare professionals to provide free treatment and also to help educate them with regards to taking care of their oral and general well-being.
As part of our time in Cambodia we will be travelling far and wide to schools, orphanages, and the slums north of Phnom Penh, focussing on children as their needs are the greatest. With 6am starts and 10hour days in the humid climate, we are ready for the challenge but need your financial support!
One-2-One are in short supply of many materials that are essential to carry out dental treatment such as sterile gloves, anaesthetics and antibiotics. The conditions are less than ideal for dental work so we are raising funds to help buy both dental materials and equipment to take with us and allow us to carry out the best possible treatment with the limited resources available.
In addition most people don’t have access to many items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss that we take for granted, they are either unavailable or too expensive. With your help we want to raise funds to purchase these items so we can hand them out to our patients especially orphans who may never had a toothbrush before.
We can’t do this alone so please help us make a difference. Every donation no matter how small will go a long way. Please support this worthy cause!
