Weydon School Ghana Charity Trip - July 2020

Hi,
I'm Megan Gransden, a year 9 student at Weydon School. My school organizes community trips to Ghana and Sri Lanka together with the charity Partner Schools Worldwide. I will be travelling to Ghana in July/August 2020 where I will be helping to support people less privileged then myself by working with the Weydon Partner schools, Dwabor MA School and Ayensudo Islamic school which are located in 2 different communities.
In Ghana I will be helping to improve the lives of disadvantaged children through running educational activities like helping children learn to read & write and organizing sports events. I will also be helping to paint buildings and basic construction tasks under the supervision of skilled adults, as well as immersing myself in the Ghanaian culture and having the opportunity to attend local sites and culturally relevant dance & craft workshops.
To fund the trip, I need to raise £2850 and I am planning lots of different fundraising events to achieve this target, including lots of baking, babysitting, running a quiz night and a stall at the local village fete. One of the events I have planned is to cycle over 100 miles along a very hilly South Downs Way in August 2019. Children in Ghana endure many physical challenges every day just to live and so I wanted to include an activity in my fundraising that would be a tough physical challenge for me and I am busy training every week to make sure I can complete it.
I am hoping that people will be generous enough to sponsor me for my bike ride, no matter how small, every little helps towards sending me on my journey to make a difference to the Ghana children and families at the partnership schools.
