Aid for refugee Venezuelan educator
Donation protected
Our new friend Wendy Castellano is from a family of crypto-Jews who have been living in fear since the Spanish Inquisition. Wendy and her three children converted back to Judaism, as did her brother and his family, and they have all now fled political persecution and religious intolerance in Venezuela. Wendy, an educator with degrees from Venezuela and Japan, is washing dishes at night while applying for teaching positions. To get a Denver Public Schools teaching visa she needs to have her foreign academic credentials certified and take an English course.
Neighbors, charities and congregants have aided the family with clothing, school fees and kosher food, but with nine people living together, Wendy is highly motivated to make her own way. The purpose of this campaign is specifically to fund the credential certification and language course (plus GoFundMe fees), which will lead to self-sufficiency for this courageous family.
