Famoso Raceway Fire Relief Fund
For every donor who contributes $100 or more, the new tower will include a 4"x6" engraved plate with your name on it! Be a part of the Resurrection Wall! How cool is that???
My big break as a track announcer came at Bakersfield during the 1963 March Meet (aka U.S. Fuel & Gas Championships). I was asked to announce Sunday at the March Meet when resident announcers Bernie Mather and Al Caldwell became ill. So ... there I was - a green kid from Michigan - given the opportunity to cover the event-of-events, before an SRO crowd and honor my heroes. And I SOARED! That was a truly life-changing moment for me. i am, therefore, a proud and thankful donor.
Got started making the trip out there in 2010 and almost "need" it now. A great chance to meet great people and see some great racing and classic race cars at CHRR. Glad to help just a little in this effort.
I know the history of this track because my brother has worked there for many teams and loves the track so I donate what little I can in the name of my brother Jon Wurtz so the racing community can get their track up and running as a historic place you all band together just like my equine family does when something devastating happens I know you will all pull together and get it back together and God bless all of you and all the hard work you have ahead of you, you have a lot of people behind you.
