In the wake of so much violence towards women (including people of color, the LGBTQ community, and many others) our small group of friends has decided to do what we can to make a difference.
We were greatly impacted by Dr. Christine Blasey Ford‘s recent testimony. It forced many to re-live the trauma of a previous sexual assault or remember how loved ones were impacted by these acts. It left those same people feeling enraged and helpless when such a heart wrenching reminder was blatantly ignored.
As we took to social media to protest, give/receive support, and try to do anything we could to make a difference, one thing became very clear....survivors need to tell their stories. They need a place where they are believed and empowered. They need a place where their allies can hold them up and say “WE SEE YOU, WE HEAR YOU, WE WANT TO HELP YOU!!!”.
This is how welifteachother.com was born.
As of now we own the domain and have an amazing group of people willing to lend their time and efforts to make this a reality. We plan not only to let people tell their stories (anonymously or otherwise), but also provide resources for victims, organize local events, and provide information about current laws and how we can help change them.
We are asking for everyone’s help to fund the initial purchase of a web hosting service and a PO BOX as an alternative method to receive stories.
We’re starting small but hoping to make a big impact - every little bit will help!
