Water Project: Monte Llano, DR
Donation protected
I traveled to the Dominican Republic with a group of students from Northwood High School in June of 2018 and immediately fell in love with the communities of both La Cumbre and Monte Llano. Although many of the locals did not have many of the same privileges we have in the United States, their happiness was contagious. Our local host families expressed their love and care by providing us with all that they could, regardless of their lower financial status. However, due to the lack of government funding, we noticed that many of the families of Monte Llano did not have an adequate source of water for indoor plumbing. The families need to walk roughly two miles each week to have water in their homes. Water is the true essence of life and is a natural gift that every human is entitled to. Our goal is to raise enough money to provide the community of Monte Llano with a reliable access to water in their homes.
