Warm Love Coat Drive 2016
Donation protected
I began Warm Love Coat Drive in 2013 to benefit elementary aged children in my childhood neighborhood. Specifically, children that attended my former elementary school, George Mason Elementary in the Churchill area. I started the coat drive with a giving spirit in mind and to impact my community positively. I saw a lot of “back-to-school” drives to benefit the students in September and toy drives during the holiday season, but nothing to benefit kids when the weather started to cool down. I also decided to do a coat drive specifically for children because most cold weather community services/drives only cater to homeless people in the area.
With the reach-as-you-climb mentality in mind, I decided to reach back to the students at George Mason Elementary School, in hopes that they would remember an act of kindness and decide to pay that act of kindness forward when they are in a position to do so.
With a summer like the one we had this year, I can only imagine the harsh weather that winter plans to bring. With the weather in mind and a gracious heart, I plan to hold my Warm Love Coat Drive to benefit children at George Mason Elementary School for the third year. Please support my goal to donate sixty coats to the students in the Churchill area by donating money to this cause, or by emailing [email redacted] to get more information on donating a brand new children’s sized coat.
