Isn't it funny how we map out the plans for our lives and assume that God will be on the same page as us?! (Insert laughter.) Our course to the adoption process has been a journey that was definitely unexpected.
We married 3 years ago and knew that we wanted to start a family of our own. We imagined our home being filled (and soon) with a child that resembled us and dreamed about how our lives would change in many ways as a family of 3.
However, after a year and a half with no success, we began to worry that something wasn’t right. We were referred to an infertility specialist to "rule out" anything that would prevent us from having our own child. Upon our results, our hopes and dreams of starting our family naturally began to crumble. We were told that there was less than a 10% chance that we could get pregnant on our own accord.
After living in denial with this news for almost a year, we decided to seek a second opinion. We were referred to what many consider to be the best in our area. Yet again, his results brought more devastating news. To paraphrase the doctor's advice, "I'm sorry, there is a very low chance of you getting pregnant, so you're better off going home and enjoying your life ". Wow! There were really no words and we felt defeated.
After many shed tears, we began to ask the Lord if adoption was His will for our family. If so, we prayed that He would lead our hearts toward that step. We started researching many different avenues of adoption. It's amazing how through our trial of infertility that the Lord strengthened our marriage and turned our eyes
and focus off of ourselves and toward orphans.
This brings us to the here and now. Most of you know that adopting a child into a family can be a costly endeavor. We simply do not have the funds to fully finance an adoption. Yet, in the next month, we will complete our application and will send it to our adoption agency (Lifeline Children’s Services) to begin the process. We know full well that embarking on this journey could take months to years, but are stepping out in faith that He will meet all of our needs.
We humbly ask that if you feel led to help us make our dreams a reality to give toward our goal. If you do not feel led to give financially please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Both are greatly appreciated! Our ultimate desire is to bring God glory throughout this process.
It encourages our hearts to remember that through Christ we are adopted into God's family. As Ephesians 1:4-6 says, "For he chose us in him before the creation
of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will - to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves."
