For Tommy and I, the road to parenthood has not been an easy one. After trying on our own, fertility treatments, and lots of prayers for well over 2 years without any luck, we have made the decision to move forward with adoption.
If you are not aware, domestic infant adoption (DIA) can cost anywhere from $20k to $40k. We were quoted to be prepared to spend $30k to $35k. With that being said, we have made the humble decision to seek help from others.
Our 'Waiting for the Missing Piece' fundraiser is a way to ask for help from our family, friends, and community as well as pay tribute to those who contribute.
Here's how it works:
We have created a 200 piece puzzle with a photo we had taken for the purpose of announcing our adoption plans (credit: Jill Isaacson Photography). We are asking that you buy a puzzle piece for a minium of $10. For every puzzle piece that you purchase we will write your name(s) on the back of the puzzle. Evenutally, when all of the puzzle pieces are purchased, we will put the puzzle together and have it framed in Baby Haluska's room.
Update: Due to the generous donations we have received, we are so close to our goal in less than a week! So here's the thing...we almost met our $2,000, but still have almost a 150 puzzle pieces waiting for names to be placed on the back of them. So after lots discussion and praying, we've decided to not set a higher amount, but strive to have all 200 puzzle pieces bought!
As the saying goes, 'It takes a village to raise a child'. We are asking for you to be part of our village and help us raise the funds needed to bring home Baby Haluska--wherever they may be.
