Root for Groot!

Please help us continue to care for our little Groot!
All donations go directly to Groot's medical account at the Ark Animal Hospital in Atlanta, Ga

On April 13th 2015 Groot, as he is now fondly known as, was brought into the Ark Animal Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia as a young, sickly, stray dog about to be euthanised. He arrived in critical condition- emaciated, dehydrated, his skin had the same texture of dried tree bark (hence the name Groot), and his nails were so long he could hardly walk. When you looked into his eyes it was clear that he had given up.

Fortunately, Dr. Johnson and her team at the Ark Animal Hospital were able to find a rescue willing to give this little guy a second chance at life. Ginny Millner Rescue of Atlanta opened their hearts to Groot and agreed to initiate payment on his his treatment. Since then we found out that Groot not only had a dangerously severe case of Demodectic mange, he also had Sarcoptic Mange (scabies). Thus far Groot has had extensive treatment for nearly 2 months and we are proud to say that the mange is finally gone, but Groot still has a long way to go.  Please help us to continue caring for Groot. He has been hospitalized for over 50 days thus far and still needs to be fully vaccinated, neutered, and cared for until a foster or forever home is found.

Groot has made leaps and bounds in terms of health and attitude. When he first came he was extremely afraid of being touched, had no idea how to walk on a leash, and wanted nothing but to hide in his cage and sleep. Now he is an outgoing little pup who loves to go on walks and be cuddled- not to mention he finally has hair! He deserves your support after everything he has endured. Even small donations count. Thank you in advance for caring about our (almost) furry friend. If you are interested in fostering or possibly adopting Groot please reach out to us...and be sure to look at all the progress pictures and video below.
