Please help the Donough family!
Many, many, many years ago, I was a shy, awkward teenager, starting at a new school and there was this girl called Sue. Sue back then, was gregarious, warm, fiercely loyal, and at times, larger than life. Sue is still all of those, but now she is a single mother to two beautiful children and is currently undergoing treatment for cancer. She is also carer to her elderly mother who too is facing the ailments that come with age. Sue was there for me when I needed it, and now she needs it.
A few months ago, Sue discovered a lump, which after tests and operations, was discovered to be cancerous. She also has to undergo treatment for pre-cancerous cells in her oesophagus, leading into her stomach.
Whilst she is lucky to have a job in the current climate in South Africa and a medical aid that covers some of her medical bills, Sue is struggling financially to meet not only her medical and household bills, but the medical bills of her mother, and her son who suffers from Congenital Nystagmus.
Whilst she is off due to her treatments and side effects, she is not paid, and as much as we'd all love for the world to pause whilst we cope with life at times, rent, utilities, food, bills, they don't stop.
Whilst she receives some support from friends with food purchases, this is not enough to keep her head above water.
I am raising funds for Sue-Ellen, in the immediate to settle arrears on her rent and children's school fees, but in the long term to help support her and her family get through each month. So that Sue can focus on getting well and seeing her kids grow up, to help her with the household & medical bills that are just not covered.
