Help Phil Finish the Fight!

Donation protected
My dad, Phil, was diagnosed with Large B Cell Lymphoma in December of  2017. It has been a difficult year for the whole family and my dad especially has struggled with both his physical and emotional health. He has at times expressed complete hopelessness and even a loss of the will to live. He fights every day and is on the path to recovery but so much has been effected in this last year that he now lacks the financial capabilities to properly care for himself and get his needs met. My brother and I are doing all that we can but admittedly we struggle due to having our own families and financial obligations. Our hope is that we can move him closer to us in Tyler, Texas where we can get him the care he needs and surround him with love and support. Your small donation will help us meet that goal. The money you donate will go towards moving expenses, transportation costs, medical bills, and getting him stable housing.

But before you decide whether or not to donate to this particular cause I would like to share a little bit about his story with you...
Growing up my father considered himself to be quite the rebel. He was a man on a mission to have as much fun as he could. Well as you can imagine this got him into some trouble and eventually he found himself homeless and addicted to heroin.  For many years he struggled with this addiction and my brother and I were forced to see first hand what addiction is capable of and the damage it does to families. In 1998, my father decided he wanted to make a change and did the hard work it takes to battle his demons and come out the other side triumphant. For the next twenty years he dedicated his life to helping those who were suffering with addiction issues. He both metaphorically and literally picked people up off the streets, snatched them from their own nightmares and helped show them a different life. He worked all over the United States educating schools, treatment centers and hospitals of the systemic, behavioral and scientific components of addiction. He single handily opened and ran residential and outpatient counseling centers and transitional living homes for men and woman. He saw the light and potential in everyone from the lost teenager to the distressed veteran. I believe he touched hundreds if not thousands of people on his journey to reduce the stigma around addiction and make resources available to those in need.

His two children, myself and my brother Kyle, learned probably the most significant lessons from him. Kyle has fought addiction throughout his life and is now raising a family and leading a positive and successful life. I work as a mental health and substance abuse counselor treating those living in rural areas with little access to services. He has helped us to be humble, grateful, caring of others and resilient.

Now he needs your help. Please help us to help him get all the love, care and attention he gave to so many for so many years.
Thank you.
