Expanding Voter Outreach Virginia

The League of Women Voters of the Fairfax Area Education Fund (www.lwv-fairfax.org) has published Facts for Voters, A Directory of Public Officials and Government Offices since the 1970s.  It is widely distributed in public libraries, schools, and neighborhood centers throughout Fairfax County.   The directory provides an overview of the electoral process and government services for county residents, however, it is only available in English.

The League of Women Voters [LWV] would like to increase citizen education and outreach to Fairfax County’s Latino, Korean, and Vietnamese communities.  LWV, in collaboration with Catalyzing Impact, proposes to translate and disseminate electronic as well as print copies of the 2018 edition of Facts for Voters.  LWV would work with Fairfax County Public Schools, Voice of Vietnamese Americans, and other community based organizations to develop a distribution campaign for the translated Facts for Voters directory. 

The funding raised will cover the cost of translators, a social media campaign, website management, printing, distribution, and marketing.  If this project is successful, LWV plans to expand the initiative to include voter education and voter registration activities.
