Dave Haws for Goleta City Council

Hi everyone! I am running for Goleta City Council and I need your help. Goleta is wonderful and quiet coastal town just north of Santa Barbara and I want to keep it that way. I want to run for city council for a number of reasons.
1.) Development: Recently there has been a flurry of development and I fear this city is changing for the worse. As a native who was born and raised in this community, I want to preserve the feel and flavor of this city. No one wants to see the classic urban sprawl that has ruined other cities.
2.) Water: We are in a major drought. When I am elected I will work with the Goleta water district to find new sources of water. Even when this drought ends, another one will be sure to come along. We need to prepare for the future.
3.) Money: When Goleta was formed, we signed a contract with the County of Santa Barbara that gave them 50% of all our property tax and 30% of our occupancy tax for all time. This past year that was over $5 million dollars. This figure will just get lager every year and there is no end in sight. This is a bad deal for the city and it's wrong. I will fight to to end this agreement with the county so we can get what's rightfully ours.
When you donate to my campaign, I will use that money for signs, mailers and other advertising to get the word out to vote for me. I am not seeking endorsments or money from special interest groups or associations. When elected, I don't want to be encumbered by them and I don't want to owe "favors" to these groups. I want to represent the people of Goleta first and formost.
