Vote Climate GA 6

Make climate change a Georgia 6th district special Congressional election issue.

As a group of climate advocates, we’re raising funds to inform GA6 voters about the candidates’ positions on climate change. This effort will also encourage the candidates to take climate-friendly positions. We hope a focus on climate will spread broadly in the 2018 Congressional elections.

As a group leader for Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL) North Atlanta , I know the fastest way to stabilize our climate and keep the world habitable for future generations is to put a price on carbon. A market-based approach (like that advocated by CCL) would drastically reduce carbon emissions while growing the US economy and jobs. Without Congressional action, we hurtle toward a more dangerous and inhospitable world.

The GA 6th district election is an opportunity to vote for a climate-friendly candidate and inform voters about the need to demand action of our elected leadership. CCL volunteers working in and near the 6th district have created a VoteClimateGA6 website , VoteClimateGA6 Facebook page and ads (here and here ) to help make that happen.

This (like all CCL work) is a non-partisan effort. We created the website, Facebook page and ads, tested them in the first election and now need to fund the ads for the June 20th runoff . This will benefit the constituents of the 6th district—and more broadly, all Americans—as we raise political awareness about this important issue.

A minimum of $1000 provides a modest placement of Facebook ads in the feed of 6th District Voters. $5000 would make the ad-buy stronger and enable a modest digital campaign on search engines. Any unspent monies would be donated directly to Citizens' Climate Lobby.

CCL is a very low budget, volunteer-intensive effort. This project is a local initiative of members of the North Atlanta and Roswell, Georgia CCL groups. Our goal is to create political will for a livable world.  We do this through understanding, connection, collaboration and advocacy.
