Emma's Volunteer Trip in Sri Lanka

Donation protected
For 5 weeks from August until September this year, I will be working alongside the organisation SLV to support Sri Lankan organisations in their response to the demand of psychological care needed to aid trauma sufferers. Most signicantly, tsunami survivors and those who have experienced civil-conflict in Sri Lanka.

I will be working in psychiatric facilities, rehabilitation centres and working hands-on with those individuals in need of psychological care. While in Sri Lanka, other projects will also include working closely with individuals with special needs and teaching English classes to children and the local community.

While the organisation of SLV are designed to help the local community, they are also providing students like myself to achieve valuable life experience. Living with a Sri-Lankan family and working in such environment will enable me to expand my horizons and experience a culture far different from my own. As well as helping disadvantaged people, this placement will contribute greatly to my aspiration of working in the psychology field; furthering my skills and giving me the chance to apply psychological knowledge in order to achieve my future goal.

To undertake this project, I will need any donations people can give to achieve the required fund. Any contributions you can give towards my target is greatly appreciated.
