I'm John Wright.


I was a young co-founder (1971, with Reg and Jean Wright) and years later, owner and editor of The Byron Shire News (1986 to 1993).

Labels in Media
These days all media get labelled. 
You hear, "Don't believe them, they're Fairfax - they're too Leftie!" or someone says, "You can't trust them - they're Murdoch-owned" or even "That ABC is full of Leftie/Greenies" and "That Andrew Bolt is a right-wing fascist!"
These are labels.
We want Voice of Byron to have a label, too:
"They stand for the truth!"
For five years we've conducted all our activities at no charge. All we've ever done has been voluntary. Thousands of hours of it.
Time For Expansion
Now it's time to expand our presence.
It's time for Voice of Byron to grow into the 21st medium it deserves to be.
And that requires funding for:
     -> Marketing
     -> Advertising
     -> Equipment (extra computer)
     -> Sales and news staff (contracted)
This is personally very important to me.
I feel what we are doing fills a need in Byron.
I feel our concept deserves to be given every chance to realise its full potential.
No matter who owns what in the Byron media, it's vital that at least one Voice is impartial, truthful and a genuine voice for Byron.
Byron deserves a genuine voice, a way for people to connect.
A way to let our governments hear what we have to say.
Every contributor will:
-> be listed in our Voice of Byron website
-> each funding over $100 receives a hand-numbered and signed replica of the first Byron News front page
-> receive valuable discounts on products and services we intend to introduce in the future
-> receive personal updates on our progress
