WHO WE ARE?: Victor Cares is a group of local residents who share a common goal; Intelligent development here in our home town.
What are we raising money for?: This campaign relates specifically to the Town House development being proposed between Church St. and Lynaugh. (Known as The Gullace Project) As of the last board meeting we were SUCCESSFUL at defeating the current plan put forth by the developers and the town has told them they must come back with something "better". This successful outcome was due, in no small part, to the legal representation our group hired. Unfortunatley, our fundraising has fallen short and as a result a few people were forced to cover the sizeable difference in order to pay our representation. PLEASE consider donating so we can continue to protect our neighborhood.
How will the money be used?: The money will be used to pay for legal council and representation before the town board as it considers this massive project.
How soon do we need the money?: As soon as possible.
Why this means so much to us (and you)?: This development will sit directly in the center of single family homes. The effect on traffic as well as the "character" of the neighborhood will be huge. The developer is asking for multiple variances to secure the project they want. (a project that is completely different than the prosed project upon which this land was specifically rezoned...30 years ago)
Eveyone who lives in or travels thru Victor knows how horrible (in fact dangerous) the traffic can be. We also know how the character of our town is changing due to so much development. We simply want this project to fit within the character of the community and meet all town/village codes. Once it's built, it can't be unbuilt. Please consider donating. It's our town, our village, and if we don't get involved we may lose the very thing that makes Victor such a special place to live. We are having success, but the fight is not over.
