Lincoln's Medical Bill

$300 of $2,000 goal

Raised by 10 people in 40 months
My name is Meredith Jayne.  I graduated from La Salle University on May 17th, and throughout my journey at college, my rock has been my horse Lincoln. He's just two years old, and everyone (both horse and human) love him.

I raised Lincoln from birth, but unfortunately on May 24th I found out he has a Equine Wobbler Syndrome. This terrible disease causes horses to become extremely unsteady on their feet, often falling, and can oftentimes no longer travel at a gait faster than a walk.

For a young horse like Lincoln, this means he can no longer play or have fun with the other horses.  He will need x-rays to determine how severe the condition is, and these will cost atleast $100 a frame (he may need 4-5).  On top of this, I already owe over $300 for his first vet visit, and I also have to consider his treatment if he's going to have any quality of life.

As a recent college grad, these types of bills are far beyond what I can even imagine to afford. I started this GoFundMe page in hopes that i'll be able to cover his medical costs, and his treatment. If I caught this early enough, he could possibly live a completely normal life, and even be ridden and run and play like he used to! Right now I am just trying to get him the best quality of care to get him healthy, and I am praying this page helps our cause because he's such a good horse, and deserves a second chance at life.

Hey everyone! Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, but I was waiting to hear about the results from Lincoln's blood work. Yesterday I got a call from our vet saying that Linc tested positive for EPM. This is a tough spot to be in, because sometimes horses can test positive for EPM, even if they don't have it, but have been exposed to it. Good news is that it is treatable! Bad news is that the treatment is close to $700.00. At this point, his vet bill is over $1,400 and I'm overwhelmed at the thought of adding to it. Please please PLEASE share or donate!

Today Linc got some rainy day supervised turn-out with his good buddy Abby. Abby used to be a brood mare, and seems to sense that something is up with Lincoln. She has been watching his every move, and even discourages him from trying to walk by blocking him off! Couldn't ask for a better babysitter!

We got a call from the vet today! Both good and bad news. The radiographs show narrowing and abnormalities of his spine, which is associated with Wobblers Syndrome. However, it is very mild, which is inconsistent with his neurological symptoms. As a result, our vet is going to send out his bloodwork, and see if he tests positive for EPM, which is expensive, but treatable. So fingers crossed, everyone! We hope to hear back from the lab by late next week! :-)
