Santa Clarita Valley International Charter School learners are deeply immersed into project-based learning. The 4th and 5th graders at SCVi have been working on a Tiny House Hunters Project. Their task was to complete a safe, durable, sustainable , and appealing home in any area of the world considering landforms and natural disasters. Through this planning process they created blueprints, supply lists, budgets, and scale models of their tiny homes.
As a step further, our learners will be taking on the task of building a real tiny home for a veteran in need. This process will not only extend their learning, but provide our young kids with the experience that comes with giving back. We have partnered up with Elvis Summers non profit, Starting Human and his My Tiny House Project LA (Mythpla) , who builds Tiny Houses for the Houseless in Los Angeles and together are building a 28 foot by 8 foot Full Tiny House for a Veteran who's Houseless and been left behind.
We have already begun the construction of the house and now need supplies and materials to continue building this house including hardware, tools, various structural lumber, windows, doors, roofing supplies, plumbing materials, caulking, screws, bolts, paint, electrical items, solar panels, furnishings etc.
Our school, families, and learners and community would be so grateful to recieve these funds to help a veteran who deserves a tiny home built with love!
