Send School Supplies to Vanuatu

Please help us deliver educational and femine hygiene supplies to over 200+ children in remote parts of Vanuatu.
My name is Niki Pearce and in Jan of 2015 my husband and I sponsored educational supplies to Pangi School, Pentacost Island in Vanuatu. The supplies included consumable items for the children as well as resources for the 5 teachers at the school. Feeling extremely humbled by the gratitude and difference our little contribution of the supplies made to the children and community, we decided to do it again, but bigger this time. Knowing we could only do so much ourselves with our own resources and wanting to help others get involved, we invited girls between the ages of 12-18 from the Gold Coast, Australia to get together one Saturday morning to donate and make up school stationary packages for other schools in remote parts of Vanuatu.
Overwhelmed by the response of more than 40 young women and some parents, we collected donated items to make up sufficient stationary packs and teacher resources for three schools.
Each stationary package for a child includes exercise books, pencils, a ruler, erasers, scissors, coloured pencils, pencil sharpeners, reading books, a personal handwritten letter and photo from one of the volunteer girls written to each child.
Additional good preloved educational resources have been wonderfully provided by some Gold Coast, Australia schools. With these and other purchased items we now have enought teacher resourse kits for three schools, that include games, dictionaries, home readers, library books, flash cards, drawing material, art and craft supplies, chalk, and other consumables.
We have also been donated 200 toothbrushes and have washable sanitary pads and hygiene kits for the teenage and older girls from the school as well as their mothers.
My husband and I underestimated just how much would be donated and we now want to make sure all the supplies reach the children in Vanuatu. There is too much for our contact in Vanuatu to ship. Because these resources are planned for a very remote part of Santo (not accessable by normal car) we need to raise sufficient funds to ensure the materials get to the schools directly. Often shipped goods do not always reach the area
The donations we are seeking now will go towards the transportation of the supplies to the children personally.
Our son who lived in Vanuatu for two years doing voluntary work is familiar with the families, has worked with the teachers and is aware of the limited resources the schools have to effectively cater for the children who attend. We believe our assistance will go a long way to making a significant difference in the lives of the children in this part of the world and their villages. I will post some videos of the kids also.
Our plan is to deliver the supplies to the schools, which are only available by hours on foot or by specially equipt 4 wheel drive by those who live locally. We will be running hygiene workshops for the girls so they know how to use the washable sanitary kits that will last each girl 2 years. We will personally deliver the resources to the teachers and children and take a photo of each child as well as videos of the children to bring back to share with the girls who donated the school packs and for you who have supported us in this project!
We hope that all who have participated to make this possible will see visually that they helped make a difference and be inspired to continue acts of service to others as a result.
